Here is their latest release:
Welcome back, seasonal residents!
Last Wednesday saw a big
influx of out-of-state license plates in the Phillippi Farmhouse Market
parking area, and vendors reported many visitors stopped by to say they
have returned for the season. Everyone was glad to welcome back
familiar faces.
This Wednesday, crowd
favorite Boris the Saxophonist will be playing your favorite songs and,
yes, he does play requests. Enjoy shopping and then rest a little,
enjoy some of the farmhouse market's fabulous foods and listen to Boris.
The Edson Keith Mansion,
a 1916 Italian Renaissance residence in the park, will be open for an
historic tour each Wednesday morning. The guided tour is free to the
public and begins promptly at 10 a.m. Join docents and learn about
Sarasota's heritage.
Also on the Phillippi
Estate Park property is the original building erected on the estate in
1916. Mr. Keith lived in the farmhouse while overseeing the
construction of his Mansion. Later the farmhouse was lived in by the
farm workers and household staff. The Keith Farmhouse has been
rehabilitated on the outside, and the Phillippi Farmhouse Market donates
funds from the market to assist with the rehabilitation of the
interior. Walk around the clapboard farmhouse, see the re-creation of
the cistern and realize that the building is a vivid reminder of
Sarasota's humble origins and the workers who help build the community.
Don't forget to bring
you well-behaved dogs on leash to the market. Vendors put out bowls of
cool water for your furry friends and the park is also dog friendly.
Produce and plant
vendors will be happy to carry your large purchases to your car or you
may leave your purchases at the Welcome Tent and the volunteers there
will hold them until you finish shopping.
There's always ample,
free parking and the Welcome Tent has lots of information on what's
happening in the county. The county Extension also has a help desk,
staffed with master gardeners to solve your horticultural issues.
We hope that our customer base from the Palmetto, Bradenton and & Sarasota areas have time to stop by and see us and this great little market. Have a great week all, we will be posting later in the week about plant goodies for Sat. Morning Market, downtown St. Pete, this coming weekend.
Happy Gardening from Mitch & Annie !
