It's Spring Time and ready For GREENFEST in Tampa

It's official, Spring is here!  Time to get outside and get garden back in shape and we are finally back in town to do one of our favorite local shows, GREENFEST! in Tampa.

This popular show takes place downtown Tampa, in Plant Park, right on the campus of the historic Univ. of Tampa.  The show is Sat and Sunday, 9am-5pm, and you can find Armstrong Nursery towards the back, near the water side (and close to the food booths, which Mitch loves).

Weather is looking lovely for Saturday, maybe a little more iffy on Sunday, but we will be there rain or shine!
There is widespread parking all around the campus and downtown, and remember, they have a "holding booth" for your plant purchases, so no matter how far you have to park, you can drive up to the front to pick up things.....TIP ! Bring your carts and wagons if you have'm.

There will be over 80 vendors selling plants, gardening items, a full schedule of educational seminars and plenty of great food. Our favorite local garden writer, Penny Carnathan, of Diggin Florida Dirt articles and blog, will be there giving one of her spirited talks.  Many of our fellow Saturday Morning Market vendor friends such as, the Schrameks from Tropical Glass Creations, Linda of Its Our Nature, Debra Thompson with her herbs and citrus, to name a few.

Mitch and I will be bringing a fabulous assortment of Exotic Plants to help brighten any garden and some hardy Spring and summer perennials such as Cosmos, Dahlia, Lavender, Cleome, Blackberry Lillies etc. We also have a fairly uncommon double peach Day Lilly that is full of buds and blooms.  Bright red Crown of thorn will brighten our booth along with Almond bush, maple leaf geraniums, Celosia and the tallest Epidendrum orchids you have ever seen !

We will have plants for sun, plants for shade, plants for home, and well, if you have a spot that needs filling in, we hope to have it, so come on by and check our selection out. We also will have a some rare specimens, such as the Orange porcupine Tomato and Werklea ferox, both very exotic and very cool looking.

Day Lily magic !

This is one of the most beautiful "ouchie" plants in the world !  Orange Porcupine

Setting up at Ocala Master Gardener show a few weeks ago, we were bundled up, but this weekend, it's back to Tshirts and shorts !

Werklea ferox....a member of the Hibiscus family, it's truly amazing

Note:  Saturday Morning Market is closed this weekend due to the Grand Prix Car race, but market will be back in action next weekend, as usual, in the Al Lang Field Lot and we will be there !!

Also, 2 other big things coming up !
First, we will be holding our annual Spring Plant Sale at our house here in St. Pete, Fri and Sat, March 29th & 30th (and yes, will be set up at market too). Our popular plant yard sale is great place to find some great things for you garden at great prices, and, some of our neighbors are going to be setting up yard sales all around us, so it will be a great one-stop shopping place !  Sale hours are Friday, 10am-6pm, and Saturday, 10am-6pm.  Place:  1331 39th avenue north, St. Pete (corner of 14th street and 39th avenue).
