GeckoFest and September happenings

Get your Gecko on ! Here's our good friends and fellow vendors, Steve and Kim Schramek of Tropical Glass Creations, who will have a great display of their gorgeous Glass Yard art and much more, at the Annual Gecko Fest in Gulfport this Sat. Sept. 1st.

If you have never been to a GeckoFest, it's a must do for locals and tourist alike. It is an all-day event with Music, Parades, Artisans & Great Foods. You will find many of your favorite Saturday Morning Market vendors setting up at the event. Unfortunately, we applied too late to try and get into the event and they are full up with vendors, so we are just going to enjoy the day and be "customers" and visit our fellow vendor friends and enjoy the event.

Our advice? Go early when it's a bit cooler and the crowds are sober and happy, or, go later afternoon, catch some great music from the Urban Gypsies, grab some pork and ribs from Brady Johnson's Mr. IGot'm, visit the vendors and enjoy one of the most unusual parades around. It's a great way to celebrate Labor Day Weekend.

Summer Market winds down:  Well, we did manage to get through the last day of Summer Market last Saturday with no rain and had a fun day of winding down our Summer adventures there.  The Cedar Birdhouses really flew out of the booth all day.  Thanks to Moe, our great summer market manager, who provided a steady presence and assistance all summer.

So, it's September, what to do??!!  It is very strange to have one whole month where we don't have any markets or shows to do.  But we will manage to keep very busy with watering and minding the current stock of plants, keeping an eye on the growing  crops that are coming along nicely with all the rain we have had, and making plans for even better things to bring to market each week starting in October.

Bags wanted ? We know everyone is trying to stay "green" out and the Plastic bags continue to be an issue. Unfortunately, in this business, dealing with plants that may be wet and pots that have soil sentiment on them, our customers want to protect their clothes, cars etc when they cart off their purchases. So, we need to keep using them but want to continue our goal of using only "recycled" plastic bags, so please help us from ever having to "buy" new bags !, We appreciate anyone who wants to recycle their bags to us, feel free to drop them off to us, whether at our home or at market.

All for now, keep in touch, keep checking in, you never know what is going to come up with us, especially when we have so much free time, so never say never that we won't pop up here or there in Sept and we are still around for any plant and/or Birdhouse needs, you just have to drop us an email or call !
