Market Happenings-Lady of the NIght Brunfelsia

PLANT OF THE WEEK !

"Lady of the Night"  (Brunfelsia americana)

These are a couple shots of our gorgeous, aromatic "Lady of the Night" Brunfelsia that we brought up to our special cabin at Weeki Wachee this past 4th of July.  This beauty is not commonly found and makes for a perfect potted plant or in a hanging basket. It is said to grow as a bush too if you trim it right.  This is one of those rare plants that really loves our Florida humidity and summertime is when she blooms the best.  And the best reward, she emits a powerful, gorgeous scent at night. In fact, they say that she starts "smelling" exactly at sundown until sunrise the next morning.  Don't have a place at night to enjoy her scent? Bring the plant in, or, just cut a few blooms off and put in vase and enjoy the delicious aroma in your house all evening.

The plant will do well in sun to part shade. The current plants we have are loaded with Buds and blooms.

We will be bringing "Lady of the Night' to Saturday Morning Summer Market tomorrow. Plants are in 1 gallon containers and we are offering this rare plant for $12 each, this week.  Can't make market ? Give us a call or email us to pick her up during the week at our house in St. Pete. See your blog homepage for contact info.

See you at Market !  Again, the details:

Saturday Morning SUMMER Market at Williams Park -- The park is located on 1st avenue north, between 3rd and 4th streets. Plenty of street parking all around.  Market hours are 9am-1pm.  The summer market has over 50 vendors this year, so come on out and enjoy some Eats, get your produce, your Plants and get some gift items for yourself or friends and family, from the many talented artisans involved.
